It’s kinda odd in these economic times to have a job that isn’t really affected at all. The company I work for works to save people money with inventory management software / hardware, so when the economy goes to crap, we actually get record business. Sure, I may not like what I am doing much there lately, but I guess I should be thankful for a paycheck. It’s not super hard work or anything, but it involves alot of traveling, which really gets old after awhile. I’ve turned lately to podcasts to help pass the time, since some of these drives are 1-4 hours both ways. Shows on the TWiT network are great, along with Diggnation and other random podcasts like Smart Wrestling Fan and Cranky Geeks. Any suggestions on some Gaming / Tech related podcasts?
GFW Radio was gold, though the two main people who made the podcast worth listening to are gone. It’s in a transitional period and going to end up with a new name soon, but it remains pretty decent.
Legendary Thread is a so-so MMO related podcast. Sometimes it can be annoying for me because they clearly know less about WoW than I do.
1up Yours is pretty good if you can stand Shane Bettenhausen. If you listen to Cranky Geeks you should recognize the host, Garnett Lee — he ends up on Cranky Geeks occasionally.
TED Talks are often good, though they’re video podcasts and don’t always work if you plan on doing audio only.
Penn Says is another video podcast I enjoy, and this is one that would work fine audio only. He’s kinda crazy, but he’s my kind of crazy.
NPR news summaries are a good way to catch up on all the stupid shit happening out in the real world.
Another podcast you may have heard about from Cranky Geeks or on TWiT is No Agenda. It’s basically dvorak.org/blog and Adam Curry blabbing about whatever is on their mind, usually about wine, food, or politics. It seems to be worth listening too, but Adam Curry can get a little annoying with his conspiracy theories, even though I tend to agree with a lot of his viewpoints about politics and such.
The rest of the stuff I listen to you’ve already got covered by the TWiT network.
